Staff Gems - Maxime Lafortune

For the next of our staff gems series, we’re highlighting Max, a Montreal based road cyclist. When not maning the phones for the customer service or helping organize marketing campaigns, he can be found on the Gilles Villeneuve Circuit or at Camilien-Houde among the many famous loops and rides around Montreal. Max is also a community organizer, using cycling to help local charities with the 100 Tours par Amours, a 100 lap challenge of the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve to help raise funds for the Québec Food Bank. Below are a selection of products from our catalogue that he uses and loves, so make sure to check them out.

Northwave Veloce Extreme - “I’m always on the lookout to take time off of my favourite segments” No matter if you’re hunting Strava segments, trying to win a local race or even racing at the highest level, the connection between pedal and body is a critical component to performance and comfort. With carbon soles, a comfortable shape and impeccable Italian construction, the Veloces have quickly become Max’s go-to shoe. Bonus, if they’re good enough for Filippo Ganna, how can they not be for Max?

Pirelli P-Zero Smartube  - “I needed something to complement my P-Zero tires and thought, why not complete the system?” For those who want the performance of tubeless without the hassle of sealant and set up, a TPU tube is the closest thing out there to the comfort, but without any mess. As a spare, they take up so little space its easy to pack and forget its even with you. On the performance side, nothing but glowing reviews from Max, who’s been able to deal with the Montreal pot holes and roads on the same set for two years now (Here’s to hoping we haven’t jinxed it by putting that out in public)

Kuat Trio Sometimes, you need to get away from the city and the density and find a nice rural loop. For trips to Bromont, the Adirondacks or simply just escaping to quieter roads, the Kuat Trio is a simple, elegant solution to transport bikes with ease. With multiple axle standards for whatever bike is best suited for the day or weekend ahead, transporting bikes is made easier thanks to this handy rack system

Wera Click Torque – There’s a relaxing rhythm to being able to fix your own bike. Being able to do it right and with confidence just adds to that experience. That’s where the quality of Wera tools comes in, and specifically the Click-Torque. With so many different torque settings recommended by manufacturers, making sure everything is bolted to spec is critical. By being able to set multiple settings, having a loud audible click for feedback and comfortable in hand to get to the tightest of bolts, the Click Torque may not be flashy, but it gives the confidence it gets the job done right.
